I learned more from 7 years of bathrobe wrestling than I did from 20 years of school.

The world of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is an objectively strange one.

In Jiu-Jitsu, you’ll meet some of the most unique people (to put it kindly) that you will ever meet because this martial arts attracts people from all walks of life. Whether you’re big, small, rich, poor, black, white, or tan, you have as good of a chance of being bit by the Jiu-Jitsu bug as anyone else.

And once you’re hooked, you’re hooked.

If you are lucky enough to get hooked into this world, you’ll be challenged and changed in ways you didn’t know were possible.

You’ll learn lessons that you didn’t know you needed to learn.

Here are 7 of my favorite lessons after 7 years of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.

People don’t want to hang out with you if you’re stinky.

This isn’t personal, but no one wants to train with the stinky gi guy. No one wants to get a skin infection.

No one wants to train with people who don’t take care of themselves.
