10 Tough Life Lessons That Will Make You More Resilient
Life’s been tough recently.
I moved cities, have been competing literally all over the world, and traveling constantly. I’m trying to adjust to a new place, manage my relationships, and make new friends — all at the same time. I’ve dealt with feelings of anxiety, sadness, and agony — sometimes all in the same day.
It’s been a time.
But luckily for me, I have a bit of a foundation of beliefs and truths that I believe I can rely on.
These 10 tough lessons in particular help me stay resilient when times get tough.
No one’s thinking about you as much as you.
I tend to worry about what people will think of me when I do anything (publishing this article could be an example), but the truth is that no one is thinking about you more than you are.
If they are thinking about you more than you are, they are probably obsessed with you and maybe a little crazy. This is a different kind of problem.
An easier life is usually not a better one.
People like the idea of easy things, but a hedonistic lifestyle quickly becomes meaningless. Don’t take it easy, get so strong that difficult things become easy.
Nearly everything that happens to you is your fault.
Not everything that happens to you is your fault. Some people are born with certain conditions or into certain lives. However, you have far more control than you think. A lot of people spend their time complaining about the lack of control they have.
Don’t be one of these people.
Unconscious trauma WILL project itself into your life.
It’s hard to stop this — that’s why it’s “unconscious”. However, you can work to soften the effects of its manifestations. If you do not you are doomed to repeat history over and over again.
